Alana proudly serves as an academic coach at Sedalia Park Elementary School, located in the Cobb County School District in Marietta, Georgia. Her focus as an academic coach is in literacy, English language arts and science.
Alana earned her Education Specialist degree in Administration and Supervision from Tennessee State University, a Master degree in Human Resources and Organizational Development from the University of Georgia and a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in Elementary Education with a minor in psychology from Florida A&M University. Alana has served as a classroom teacher for over 5 years in the Birmingham City School District, located in Birmingham, Alabama where she also served as the head of several school committees and as the grade level leader for her team.
Alana has also served as both a preschool director and an academic director for grades K-10 in a Project Based Learning School located in Mableton, Georgia. There she was responsible for creating and designing the curriculum for the K-10 program, overseeing school wide assessments, facilitating weekly curriculum meetings with K-10 teachers, creating and facilitating staff development, interviewing teacher candidates, managing the student information system, crafting and facilitating new teacher orientation and coordinating Georgia Accrediting Commission and SACS/AdvancEd Accreditations.
Alana holds Georgia Teaching Certification in Early Childhood (P-5) and Middle Grades Social Science (4-8), Preschool Director Certification, is Orton-Gillingham trained, is certified as an ELLOT observer for SACS/AdvanEd, and has received training in Project Based Learning provided by High Tech High, California.
Alana resides in Smyrna, GA where she is a wife, mother and lifelong learner who has a passion for innovatively teaching both children & adults.
